Shelley
Burdine-Prevost, LPC-MHSP, has worked in the field of
counseling as a psychotherapist, minister, or school
counselor for the past 12 years.
Shelley received her M.A. from Wheaton College, completed an
internship at Family Counseling Services (near Chicago) in
Geriatric Counseling, and is currently a doctoral candidate
in Counseling Psychology at Argosy University. Shelley
provides counseling services for individuals with myriad
needs, such as depression, anxiety, divorce recovery, body
image issues, addictions, sexual abuse recovery, and the
unremitting journey of self-discovery. Classically
trained in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, Shelley uses
various techniques and approaches to help you reach your
therapeutic goals, grow psychologically, and heal
emotionally. As the Tennessee co-coordinator for Postpartum
Support International, Shelley is particularly interested in
helping women and couples in their childbearing year,
including struggles with postpartum depression and anxiety.
Shelley
also works with couples and families who are experiencing
relational difficulties or communication deficits. The force
of relationships in one’s life, especially in the intimate
relationships between couples and families, can create great
joy or great despair. Additional “tools” learned in
counseling will enable a couple or family to communicate not
only more easily, but also more deeply and with greater
meaning.
Currently, Shelley is a preferred provider for BC/BS and is
in the process of becoming credentialed through most major
insurance companies. Please contact your health care plan
to verify your behavioral health benefits prior to a first
visit. To make an appointment with Shelley, please call
643-2246.
